Kimpton Down Stables: Spring Results

The team has enjoyed a productive few weeks as the flat season kicks into gear, with several of our runners putting up smart performances and promising plenty more to come.

It appears the Round Table is well represented at Kimpton this Spring with three nice CAMELOT horses:

TATTYCORAM won nicely her 10-furlong novice at Sandown, reversing the form with the well bred WINTER’S SONG. Her effort earned her a wildcard entry into the Oaks and she is declared in the Musidora at York this week as we look to test her at a higher level. She continues to strengthen physically from run to run, and we must give a particular mention to rider and groom Alexis.

SING US A SONG also impressed at Sandown, with an authoritative victory that earned him a 7lb rise in the weights. That puts him right on track for races like the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot—a step up in trip should suit him further, and he’s thriving at home.

LADY VIVIAN took to the turf at Chester, winning comfortably off top weight and confirming the promise she showed on the all-weather. She’s come on a lot since her Southwell win and deserves her chance in something a little more ambitious.

At Goodwood’s opening meeting, AMILOC showed real grit in landing a competitive three-year-old conditions race, beating some well-bred rivals to remain unbeaten. He looks like one to follow as he steps up in trip and class—there’s a lot to like about him.

MOON OVER MIAMI found the switch back to turf much to his liking, maintaining his unbeaten turf record with another assured display. He looks to have a very workable mark and should be a regular feature in some nice staying handicaps through the season.

A very honourable mention must go to CHANTILLY LACE, who finished a gallant fifth in the 1000 Guineas. It was only her second ever start—and her seasonal debut at that—so to perform as she did in a Classic shows the talent and honesty this filly possesses. She’ll probably reappear in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

SOCIETY KISS matched NO NAY NEVER’s track record in Friday’s 5f fillies novice at Ascot. That will earn her a date at next month’s Royal meeting in the Queen Mary Stakes.

Looking ahead, we’re building toward the Dante Meeting at York this week, where SMOKEN will have her seasonal return in the Musidora. She’s done very well physically over the winter—stronger, more balanced, and mentally mature. Her homework has been good and we’ve reason to be hopeful.

As we turn the key and settle into the rhythm of the season, the yard feels full of momentum. The horses are coming to themselves, the team is working hard, and there’s a real sense of purpose. Here’s to the weeks ahead.
